Theo's New PJ's!!

Who's the happiest boy in town? Theo is in his stripey PJ's with ponies on his feet! "Pony Boy, Pony Boy won't you be my pony boy"?

Quiet Moments

Just the view from my window at 7 AM--having a baby allows you see the world when it's still and quiet and the light hits the buildings just so...makes Haight Street look almost like Italy if you squint hard enough.

Weekend Fun

The last weekend of September and beautiful warm days...the city is jam packed with people and our little family has been taking it all in! This is probably my favorite time of year in SF--it almost feels like a season...
Friday night we went to Gruenwald Press to see the art opening of good friend Everett Snowden who produced an amazing body of work in a frenzied , short period of time. While we wanted to buy a painting, the show was a sell out. Beautiful work. Theo spent time hanging with Miss Melinda and JR as well as John & Catherine. On our way home, we encountered Critical Mass and Theo got to see throngs of bicyclists fill the streets.
Saturday night we entertained Terry's old Texas friends the Martins and their business partners, Phil and Toni with dinner at the Presidio Social Club. Theo was pretty good for most of the meal, but his desire to crawl around our legs overrode his desire to sit and EAT!! Yeah, our baby/restaurant days are just about over...It was a great meal with good, understanding friends and many invites to come wild boar hunting in Texas come spring-hmmmmm...
Sunday was just a kick back day at the beach--Theo let loose and got covered in wet, muddy sand, watched the kites bob in the sky and big boats chug by. It was the perfect close to the weekend.

Summer has definitely come to a close but that doesn't slow us down--Theo has been attending a
fantastic playgroup called Mama Mia at the JCC. Moderated by an early childhood educator, Theo plays, explores and socializes with other kids while Mama observes and learns. It feels like pre, pre-school in it's structure..snacks and all.
Another great weekly event is the ten thirty tinies at the library-Theo loves songs and movement and hanging with other little people.

A Visit With Nonna and hanging with The Art Guys

Sonoma Camping! Sort of....

With summer coming to a close, Sonoma beckoned with its still warm days and pastural beauty--Our favorite home away from home--always in the good company of friends like the Cavaz family, who have made Sonoma their home for many years now. Frank & Julie along with their sons, Dylan and Dante always open their doors to us when we drive up. They are owners of Bacchus Glass http://www.bacchusglass.com/ definitely worth a look if you collect or enjoy the glassblowing craft.
It was suggested we come up for one last night of backyard camping with Frank and the boys before the nights got too cold. While a good idea in theory, Theo & Mama prefer the beauty of the outdoors as viewed from a speeding car perhaps or from a lovely balcony maybe..with binoculars and a good blanket. So it was Papa T who braved the chill and clear skies and stayed up well into the morning with Mr. Cavaz drinking many adult beverages. So while we did not in fact camp altogether, we learned alot about Theo's likes and dislikes in the process...maybe next summer.

Stella & Theo: Buds for Life

Shortly before leaving for his month long sojourn to Pilchuck Glass, Papa T. had the fabulous idea of obtaining a new family pet from the local shelter. Dear old Otis the cat had been gone several months and we felt Theo was old enough to appreciate and notice a new kitty.
A quick trip to Pet's Unlimited and we had our New Family Cat! Stella (a.k.a. Wednesday or Clover) fit in right away. Theo adored her upon sight and she was perfectly indifferent to his awkward first stabs at stroking her furry self-or gently poking her eyes...or squeezing her tail. All of which she takes in stride. She enjoys sleeping with him during nap time on the big bed and alerts us at night when he stirs in his sleep. Aside from her never ending hunger ( old behaviour from the Big House we feel) and her too early wake up cries-she is a wonderful addition to our little family.

First Friends

In a years time, Theo has aquired or should I say, finally recognized, his first friends. Caskey being his BFF whether Theo knows it or not--Only 9 days apart-the boys have been hanging out, doing yoga, going to farmers markets since thier earliest days. Theo's future prom date wheteher he knows it or not is Calista Catherine, who aside from being the cutest girl Theo knows, she is the only girl that he knows. So we have that figured out! We also have Little Jesse who is younger and bigger than Theo-they played conga together on Theo's birthdayuntil Theo got all possessive over his drums, man! (see pic)
Having these early friends has meant so much for Theo and Mama--having great, funny, smart moms to connect with during this amazing ride called Motherhood.

Summer of Love GG Park

So in 1966, San Francisco's Golden Gate park was awash with hippies, yippies, freethinkers and revolutionaries. Survivors and offspring of the era congregated 40 years later to remember what it was all about. Theo enjoyed his first foray to an outdoor rock concert. He was unfazed by the proliferation of tye-dye, long hair and questionable fashion in general--the same can not be said for Mama-who is a recovering Child of Hippies. Papa T. being part of the second wave of Hippiedom, was right at home.....

Theo Micheal Chastain just celebrated his first year August 26th. The BBQ was attended by his best friends: Calista, Caskey and Jesse. Most of the day was spent crawling in the dirt and eating watermelon--as it should be.
The fall is looking very exciting! Theo will be flying to Italy to meet his Uncle Michael in late October-We may be there on Mamma's birthday which is extra special!
Theo is on his way to walking but not quite certain he's ready...lot's of daredevil freestanding moves though--look Ma, no hands!!
